How to Make Friends
Last year, we shared a few sweet recipes with you. Part of the joy of making something fun and delicious comes from sharing it with others — and not just on social media. Sharing makes us feel good; it’s one of the easiest ways to bring positive feelings into our lives. For many people, knowing what to share is not always the challenge. The challenge comes from having someone to share it with.
At our St. Andrews apartment community in Columbus, GA, we understand that moving into a new apartment can be as exciting as it is challenging. One of the best ways to feel right at home is to make friends with the people that are living around you, but this is often easier said than done.
One of the best steps to take when making new friends is to put yourself out there. Exercising outside is a great way to meet your neighbors, especially with the warm summer weather. You can also practice outdoor hobbies; people may take notice and some might even come over and chat about it! Finding people that are interested in the same activities or do their exercise routines on the same day or time as you, bring about key moments that can build lasting relationships.
If you’re not keen on getting people to notice your outdoor habits, or find that you go on that daily jog at different hours than a lot of people, the next best thing is right in your kitchen. Greet your next-door neighbors with a plate of goodies. Don’t have any delicious leftovers? Make some more! Nothing quite breaks the ice like a friendly smile with a plate of treats. Not only will you feel great from sharing something that you love, but it will make your neighbors feel equally happy.
All in all, there’s not much to lose and loads to gain by being friendly to those in your apartment community.
